The Mexican painter beatrizpadilla has devoted her life to the environment from very original perspectives, founding and leading projects such as the design and construction of Mexico’s first transcontinental solar racecar, Mexico’s and Guatemala’s intercollegiate electric vehicle racing championships, Mexico’s Advanced Battery Consortium, the creation of a think-tank for the conservation of Mexico’s Water Forest and the production of comic books for wilderness conservation.
In 2005 she began her project Wilderness Conservation Painting Expeditions (www.beatrizpadilla.org). To date, throughout 31 expeditions, she has painted in situ endangered and protected wild areas in Africa, Europe, the Caribbean and the American Continent. By means of this project she generates funds for the conservation of two wild areas towards which she has a long-term commitment: central Mexico’s Water Forest and the Maya jungle that lies between Mexico and Guatemala.
